"I'm A Georgia Voter" I proudly placed my sticker on my shirt. As I drive away from a DeKalb county polling place I start to consider how smooth the process was. I was in and out in literally five minutes. There was no confusion, no "tomfoolery", just a well organized, peaceful experience from beginning to end.
But as I drove into the parking lot and noticed all the cars and the workers outside directing traffic there was an initial hesitancy and an uneasiness about the process. There have been so many radio shows and media warnings about voting this year. I was already prepared to turn around and go back, and not have to deal with long lines and the "fragle-nackle Bull" of what documents I had to present to prove my identity. Greatly to my surprise, the workers were courteous, patient and helpful. The lines were minimal and with only my valid GA driver's license, the process was as smooth as a baby's bottom.
Don't be discouraged by all the hype surrounding Election 2012. Simply be informed and prepared!
